Really intense conversation w the daughter yesterday.
She identifies as a witch now and I said “you can go through the motions and pretend, but it dosent make you a witch”.
To support my argument, like an idiot, I mentioned that you can identify as a woman, but it dosen’t make you a woman.
“ anyone can be a woman, anyone can be a man”
“No, men can’t be women.
“Yes they can”
“No they cant.
Repeat.
“these words, boy girl man woman mean something and putting on a dress does not make you a girl. You can wear a dress and be a man, have short hair and be a girl.”
“What about non binary?”
“Still a man or a woman”
“You’re being mean by not using pronouns. “Katie” is my parent and I love her. What’s it to you?”
I tried to make an argument that not everyone can or should think the same, for individuality and sex non conformity and I won’t be told how to think or to speak. It’s affecting families, and “it’s” telling me what to say and how to think.
This went on for a bit and I’m pretty rattled.
I probably shouldn’t? have gotten into it, but I did, and to “attack” witchyness, trans and familial identity simultaneously, I got the full brunt of this ideology back and all of the talking points that you hear from the adults.
Pic: Seen on the streets here this week.
Someone shared this with me who said it had been circulating in the Hasidic community. Will likely offend a lot of people these days.
Hi everyone, I haven't been active in Solid Ground for a while, but I am still alive and kicking! I now work as personal assistant to a mind-bendingly weird and diva-esque artist-lip-syncher-performer named Fiona Blueberry. She is blissfully clueless about politics and seems to be completely unaware of the culture wars. Working with her is a breath of fresh air. If you need a mood lift, I encourage you to watch this video we made together. Happy 4th, everyone! Wishing you fun/love/peace on this holiday. :) www.fionablueberry.com
Some lyrics for a song I was working on yesterday. Some have told me I tend to/am descent at waxing poetic.
I’m about as quiet on Facebook as I am in Solid Ground meetings, but I ‘liked’ a post about the most recent Let’s Go Washington Super Signer Rally. Within a minute or so I got a private message from a coworker asking if I know these are “right wing, anti-trans initiatives.” I told him I know what they’re about and that I support keeping boys and men out of girls’ and women’s sports and spaces. We went back and forth a few times, with him telling me lots of women don’t support this (“ask around”) and also to “do your homework.”
I’m going to try to take an early lunch tomorrow so I can tune in to the livestream with Amy Sousa. Perfect timing.
