You know, I’ve often said that if you’re looking for racism and sexism and such, you WILL find it. Likewise, I have friends who seem to spot the wokeness in everything whereas for me it was just fun/scary/suspenseful, etc. Like Stranger Things, Jurassic World, Star Wars (I understand that one a bit more).
I can’t say I’m “non-woke” enough to see all this. But sometimes I think things can be twisted into wokeness. Like reading too much into things that maybe weren’t meant to be a nefarious agenda? I don’t know. Another specific example is Frozen. Yeah, people got all worried about the gay agenda with Let it Go (I took that in a variety of ways). But the fact that Anna and Elsa are sisters? And making THAT gay????????????? I mean, I crave good brotherhood and sisterhood stories. And it seems like both woke and anti-woke audiences will spot gayness everywhere.
