From Colin Wright on X:
I checked in on BlueSky to see how people there are reacting to the release of the Israeli hostages, and it’s the eeriest thing. It’s not trending. There’s no mention of it on the “Explore” tab. I started scrolling the feed and went through hundreds of posts without seeing a single one that mentioned it.
Instead, it’s all posts about Mamdani, John Oliver’s new episode criticizing Bari Weiss and Jamie Reed, the “No Kings” protest apparently happening this weekend, Taylor Swift, the Epstein Files, complaints about anti-vaxxers, and snarky takes insisting that Antifa doesn’t exist. That's it.
It’s honestly blowing my mind how ideologically airtight that bubble is. If someone primarily gets their news by scrolling BlueSky, there’s a good chance they don’t even know that Trump negotiated a deal for the hostages and that they were released today.
And what’s even more mind blowing is that this echo chamber is entirely self-imposed. They weren’t banned from X. They left voluntarily, specifically to avoid encountering news or perspectives that might challenge their narrative.
Someone shared this with me who said it had been circulating in the Hasidic community. Will likely offend a lot of people these days.
Hi everyone, I haven't been active in Solid Ground for a while, but I am still alive and kicking! I now work as personal assistant to a mind-bendingly weird and diva-esque artist-lip-syncher-performer named Fiona Blueberry. She is blissfully clueless about politics and seems to be completely unaware of the culture wars. Working with her is a breath of fresh air. If you need a mood lift, I encourage you to watch this video we made together. Happy 4th, everyone! Wishing you fun/love/peace on this holiday. :) www.fionablueberry.com
Western Washington hasn’t gotten the memo, but I remain hopeful!

Visiting Poland this past week with a couple of friends. We attended church with a small branch of our our very same church we have in the USA and over all the world. That was a special experience…singing hymns in like…at least 3 different languages yet unified in spirit (lots of people know English). And go figure, we were visitors alongside a family who only lives about a half-hour from me in Utah!!!!
And then two of us went to the Solidarity Museum in Gdansk, which is to commemorate the movement against the communist regime of the 1960s-80s or so? They unionized and started a movement against communism. They got so far and then suddenly, martial law came to town and kept people in fear using propaganda and “this is for your own good.”
As I went through I tried on different presidents (like Trump vs the radical left). Sure Trump seems to have some authoritarian tendencies. I have my concerns. Yet I’m angry that most of the stuff I saw in the museum, my family would attribute ...
