Hi everyone, I haven't been active in Solid Ground for a while, but I am still alive and kicking! I now work as personal assistant to a mind-bendingly weird and diva-esque artist-lip-syncher-performer named Fiona Blueberry. She is blissfully clueless about politics and seems to be completely unaware of the culture wars. Working with her is a breath of fresh air. If you need a mood lift, I encourage you to watch this video we made together. Happy 4th, everyone! Wishing you fun/love/peace on this holiday. :) www.fionablueberry.com
I rarely get over to Queens so I thought I'd take the occasion of this gathering to pop over there. I ended up catching just the tail end of the event, which consisted of a small number of attendees. Way more multiracial and working class folks than the Manhattan gatherings, though I shouldn't be surprised. I wish I'd recorded his previous song. This one was calling for new blood running for office. He also left a prayer at the end. (I've added photos of some gorgeous pastries at a bakery in the neighborhood, Jhoane's.)

Conservatives tend to view liberals as “immature” —irresponsible, gullible and irrational. Liberals, in turn, tend to see conservatives as “savage” —aggressive, cold-hearted and barbaric.
"The researchers also found something even more revealing: liberals overestimate how dehumanised they are by conservatives (they think conservatives view them even more negatively than they do). But conservatives underestimate how dehumanised they are by liberals (they think liberals view them more positively than they actually do).
"This gap matters. Seeing someone as immature leads to contempt — you laugh at them, dismiss them, refuse to take them seriously. *Seeing someone as ...
