Just found out that I have family coming into town this next week…the part of the family with whom I wasn’t prepared to discuss Trump. They’d fall under what some would call TDS, but I don’t want to throw that around in the real world. Thinking of sending this text. May or may not actually happen….

“I’ve been in several emotional tailspins since my trip up there in November 2023, worrying obsessively about our next get-together, probably to a point that would make people worry about my safety. Worry about when politics comes up again, usually without warning.
However bad Trump is, I might just be a special case of having experienced some psychological trauma from another direction. Lots about Trump might be true and valid. But it doesn’t elicit the same trauma (I don’t know what else to call it) I experienced from some leftist ideologies (that yes, are small to the rest of the family, but are gigantic for me).
So if anything political comes up this next week, I just need that understanding and sensitivity. If the prophet or the scriptures have dictated or will dictate where I “should” stand (my willingness is as open as can be), I need my own personal witness outside of the influence of others.”
