Solid Ground
Politics • Spirituality/Belief • Culture
As somebody who suffered from increasingly totalitarian "woke" ideology in my former workplace, I understand how critical regular "reality checks" are. This community is for people who wish to engage with each other and create a community of support to help make sense out of the chaos.

My New Job - The Dandiest Job Ever - Happy 4th!

Hi everyone, I haven't been active in Solid Ground for a while, but I am still alive and kicking! I now work as personal assistant to a mind-bendingly weird and diva-esque artist-lip-syncher-performer named Fiona Blueberry. She is blissfully clueless about politics and seems to be completely unaware of the culture wars. Working with her is a breath of fresh air. If you need a mood lift, I encourage you to watch this video we made together. Happy 4th, everyone! Wishing you fun/love/peace on this holiday. :) www.fionablueberry.com

Courage as Status Metric

I do not recall the source, but I remember reading a recent social critique in which the author observes that the characteristic by which individuals are measured to determine relative status has changed over time. The author identifies honor as the determinant of status at the time of the founding of USA (see Hamilton/Burr duel). Dignity was the predominant trait from Victorian era and well into 20th century. Recently, victimhood has been widely accepted as the way to measure status.

I shared this at Tuesday's Zoom meeting with @christinesw. I also shared my vision that we will know that we are on our way out of this chaotic period of cultural reconfiguration when we start to see courage emerge as the prevalent measure of status.

The Mirror New Episode ! Episode 2: Part 1
The Devil & Karl Marx: Is there a Spiritual Cost to Marxism?

This episode was a doozy to make! We dove headfirst into the history of Marxism, weaving together everything we’ve explored in the discussion group to examine it through a spiritual lens. With Paul Kengor’s "The Devil and Karl Marx" as our guide, we hear from communist survivors from North Korea and China and even dust off our old Bibles (yep, you read that right!) to ask: Is history repeating itself?

Watch Here:

Stay tuned for Part 2 in a couple weeks, where we’ll dig into the modern implications.
