Solid Ground
Politics • Spirituality/Belief • Culture
As somebody who suffered from increasingly totalitarian "woke" ideology in my former workplace, I understand how critical regular "reality checks" are. This community is for people who wish to engage with each other and create a community of support to help make sense out of the chaos.

Mug trimming timelapse

I made this for my friend's daughter who is trying out pottery. I've been making her little instructional videos and this one is a timelapse of me trimming and putting a handle on a mug. Thought I would share in case you guys find this interesting.

Mamdani spoof

Someone shared this with me who said it had been circulating in the Hasidic community. Will likely offend a lot of people these days.

My New Job - The Dandiest Job Ever - Happy 4th!

Hi everyone, I haven't been active in Solid Ground for a while, but I am still alive and kicking! I now work as personal assistant to a mind-bendingly weird and diva-esque artist-lip-syncher-performer named Fiona Blueberry. She is blissfully clueless about politics and seems to be completely unaware of the culture wars. Working with her is a breath of fresh air. If you need a mood lift, I encourage you to watch this video we made together. Happy 4th, everyone! Wishing you fun/love/peace on this holiday. :) www.fionablueberry.com

If you want a glimpse into the dark world Matt Walsh is commenting on, Im providing a link to the parenting regret subreddit. It's pretty horrible.

What's interesting from my perspective as a mom who had my first baby mid COVID, I was constantly baffled that nobody said he was cute, that they treated him like a problem. That doctors refused to see me for my post partum check up unless I LEFT MY 6 WEEK OLD IN THE HALLWAY.

In retrospect, I realize it was because they were afraid of him. Yes afraid of a baby because they might catch COVID. Adults were prioritizing their own safety over a baby. "Leave your six week old in a hallway, I might get sick" is literally what a doctor told me though not so bluntly. More like "Due to our COVID policy, you can't take your baby in the room so you'll have to leave him in the hallway" yea....
For the record- I didn't do it. I just NEVER got my post partum physical follow up because I'm sorry Im not leaving my baby in a fucking hallway.

Then as Ekounobi points ...

A other perspective on Lindsay Clancy

Meghan Murphy and Mary Lou Singleton discuss the psychopharmacological aspects of Clancy's care. Very interesting- and tragic. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-same-drugs/id1504029211?i=1000786888422

I keep hearing the wrong claim that Lindsey Clanct will never walk free if she's found not guilty by insanity. Absolutely wrong. This drives me nuts because there's a well documented stream of murderers who have walked free thanks to an Insanity or Manslaughter plea in otherwise clear murder cases.
