Solid Ground
Politics • Spirituality/Belief • Culture
As somebody who suffered from increasingly totalitarian "woke" ideology in my former workplace, I understand how critical regular "reality checks" are. This community is for people who wish to engage with each other and create a community of support to help make sense out of the chaos.

Mug trimming timelapse

I made this for my friend's daughter who is trying out pottery. I've been making her little instructional videos and this one is a timelapse of me trimming and putting a handle on a mug. Thought I would share in case you guys find this interesting.

Mamdani spoof

Someone shared this with me who said it had been circulating in the Hasidic community. Will likely offend a lot of people these days.

My New Job - The Dandiest Job Ever - Happy 4th!

Hi everyone, I haven't been active in Solid Ground for a while, but I am still alive and kicking! I now work as personal assistant to a mind-bendingly weird and diva-esque artist-lip-syncher-performer named Fiona Blueberry. She is blissfully clueless about politics and seems to be completely unaware of the culture wars. Working with her is a breath of fresh air. If you need a mood lift, I encourage you to watch this video we made together. Happy 4th, everyone! Wishing you fun/love/peace on this holiday. :) www.fionablueberry.com

“To be fair, most men need to be reminded that they are not superior.”

This was said by someone on my choir trip last week…not part of the performance, but just at dinner amongst a conversation (our performance was centered on women and children…it actually wasn’t as overt as I was fearing, so that was good). This was the week after Father’s Day and during Men’s Mental Health month. Granted the person who said this HAS had domineering men in his life who had that attitude.

So did a woman who also is frustrated at how men seem to be getting erased.

Like… “most men?” Are we not in an era where people are lifting up women like crazy? Perhaps each demographic feels unseen or unheard in their own way.

I know people make the historical argument about how women used to be seen as or literally used as property. But I honestly don’t know how to fit myself into historical contexts. Like…I already have struggles with self-worth/self-esteem, but somehow I’m supposed to have...

I know I post a lot. Apologies, but I noticed that I’ve entered into the “lanyard class”:)
