Solid Ground
Politics • Spirituality/Belief • Culture
As somebody who suffered from increasingly totalitarian "woke" ideology in my former workplace, I understand how critical regular "reality checks" are. This community is for people who wish to engage with each other and create a community of support to help make sense out of the chaos.

Mug trimming timelapse

I made this for my friend's daughter who is trying out pottery. I've been making her little instructional videos and this one is a timelapse of me trimming and putting a handle on a mug. Thought I would share in case you guys find this interesting.

Mamdani spoof

Someone shared this with me who said it had been circulating in the Hasidic community. Will likely offend a lot of people these days.

My New Job - The Dandiest Job Ever - Happy 4th!

Hi everyone, I haven't been active in Solid Ground for a while, but I am still alive and kicking! I now work as personal assistant to a mind-bendingly weird and diva-esque artist-lip-syncher-performer named Fiona Blueberry. She is blissfully clueless about politics and seems to be completely unaware of the culture wars. Working with her is a breath of fresh air. If you need a mood lift, I encourage you to watch this video we made together. Happy 4th, everyone! Wishing you fun/love/peace on this holiday. :) www.fionablueberry.com

Colonialism is Philanthropy Actually
I feel like I could write an essay on this but ...
Half my family is English and can trace their ancestors way back to those savages painting themselves blue. I sometimes refer to Stone Henge as "The Temu Coliseum" because, yes English people take pride in it but it's rather embarrassing compared to what the Romans accomplished isn't it? Yea I know it predates it by a few thousand years but the Pre-English hadn't exactly accomplished much after that either..
Until Hadrian... A Roman Emperor, came along and started civilizing us through... Oh that dirty word "Colonialism".
And thanks to Roman Colonialism the English went from naked blue savages to became one of the most powerful countries in the world.
Colonialism was (and I agree IS) a form of Philanthropy. It introduced people suffering in barbarism to the wonders of civilization. It improves quality of life and empowers them. Heck the Goths destroyed Rome using the weapons and techniques that Rome had introduced to them!
Frankly, all wed have to do for large ...

RE: book/reading group.

I’ve read animal farm/lord of the flies(~30 yrs ago)words as eggs, counter woke-craft, the eden project and a first few pages/chapters of most of the rest. I’d love to, in good faith, present these books as potentialities for a reading group.
