I just spent a long weekend in Philadelphia for the Braver Angels convention. When you sign up you say whether you lean red or blue, because they intentionally only admit equal numbers of both. When you check in, they give you a lanyard with your name and the corresponding color to wear all weekend. I was like, you want me to WHAT?! Terrifying!
But it wasn’t. It was like an alternate universe, like being on vacation with 1000 of the nicest people you know. I wore my red lanyard and everyone was warm and open and I made so many friends. Everyone I met had a story about toxic politics impacting their relationship with loved ones. I’m headed home feeling inspired and hopeful and ready to bring this unifying mentality back home. It’s such a cool organization and I’m still figuring things out myself but wanted to share in case it could help others, too. 🫶
